If at first you don’t succeed...

then skydiving is not for you.

It amazes me how some people even got a licence to drive.

I know you not just talking about elderly drivers, but they scare me the most. It’s really scary working at a gas station when people come in to pay for their gas, and they can’t hear you, they can barely control their hands, and have a very hard time understanding what they themselves are doing. Then you realize that person that took 5 minutes to find the credit card in their wallet, and 5 more to swipe it in the machine, is about to hop behind the wheel of a 4000 pound, V8 powered, luxury sedan, and drive on public roads. Which is why I really think you a person should have to go in for a physical every couple years in order to keep their licence rather than just renewing it ever TEN years.

I’ve embarassed myself a couple times in with my parking in the last couple weeks. I’m still not gauging how straight I am in the spot very well. And then there is the overhang in the front. I’ve scraped a couple of parking curbs. Oops!

Is the white Escort yours? If not I'm legitimately surprised to see two of them.

It’s not just the older but also the younger I find are equal or worse. Only last week an 18 year old driver crashed there Vauxhall Corsa on a pretty perfectly straight road that runs parallel to the motorway between Scotland to England.

The scene of the crash at Metal Bridge Credit: ITV Border

A 18-year-old man is in a critical condition after a road accident which happened at Metal Bridge, just north of Carlisle.

The Great North Air Ambulance was called to the scene, where paramedics assisted ambulance teams from both sides of the border.

The teenager, who’s suffering from life-threatening head injuries, was then flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

A 19-year-old is in the Cumberland Infirmary with neck injuries.

No other cars involved yet a young driver managed to lose a small car on a straight road that was surfaced two years ago and has zero potholes, imperfections or hazards (I do this stretch every three or four weeks to clean a car in Gretna).

I’m guessing texting, or falling asleep at the wheel was to blame in this particular instance.

It’s mine, yeah. Definitely a rare sight now, especially without any rust or missing body panels. It’s a shame that it will likely never be a collector car or anything since it’s overshadowed by the European version, but I do think I might have one of the nicest ones out there today.

Incident happened at 10:45am, 18 year old driver and 19 year old passenger almost certainly speeding and guessing, only guessing alcohol and inexperience played a part.

It’s the going rate car for new and young drivers, the insurance is the cheapest on these half decent cars. All of my friends kids have Vauxhall Corsa D s. The Fiesta in base model 1.0 litre is a piece of crap, all other similar size cars are either more expensive to buy or insure. The parts are cheap as chips as the car has been built for so long.

What’s funny is to watch them keep trying. Some people know their limits, and stop while ahead. Others aim for perfection, and still end up just as poorly parked.

I was in Tokyo, waiting for a colleague to show up. I watched a guy trying to back into a parking spot. He angled the car to make it easier to back in... but for the first several attempts he did not bother to turn the steering wheel, so he ended up back where he started. A few more tries and he was sort of in the spot, and not too far from taking out the cars on either side of him. Then he got lucky and managed to get into the spot pretty decently.

Unfortunately, he did not like his success. He got out and using his foot he measure if he was between the lines, and if he was parallel to the lines. Apparently he was not perfectly centered as he pulled out drove around the lot to come back and started the entire process over again. After several more tries he had succeeded in doing a u turn and was now facing the direction he had came into the parking lot from. After several more attempts to back in someone came out and left from a spot on the opposite side of the lane. He pulled straight into that spot... and part of the 2 spots on either side of him, leaving a couple feet of the back of the car hanging out. He got out, and for a moment I thought he was going to measure out his parking again. But after scratching his head he walked into the office. I guess he finally realized his fail.

In the first picture, how is that even possible? I drive that same model Civic. It’s not that big! And those are fairly generous sized spaces. The only possible conclusion I can come up with is that maybe the guy was over the line in the next space over when he/she originally parked? Seriously, how does one fuck up that bad?

And the Explorer in the third pic, I see that kind of shit all the time. Apparently striped lines mean it’s cool to park there. The place in my daily travels I see this the most frequently? The GYM. You know, where you go to work out? You’d think people who actually went to the gym wouldn’t mind walking a little bit further. Then again, people also park motorcycles on the sidewalk in front of the gym, so there’s that. I just don’t understand some people.

Wow you are liberal. I have always said that 18-45 every 10 years, 45-65 every 5 years, 65+ every 2 years
